In
addition to the encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other resources you
typically find in library reference collections, the Elizabeth Public Library
provides access to a broad selection of online databases
for
your research needs. Log in from one of our Internet computers or from home to
find abstracts, full text articles, and images from journals, newspapers and
encyclopedias. If you need assistance you can always ask a librarian.
If
it’s Elizabeth, Union County, or New Jersey history you’re researching, visit
our Local
History Room where you’ll find books and other
documents containing state, county, and local information of interest to
researchers. Our Local History Room is the only one of its kind in Elizabeth
and contains items such as local government documents, genealogy tools, Union
County history, high school yearbooks, and maps. Our microfilm collection
includes the Elizabeth Daily Journal (1860-1992 plus a card index from
1915-1992) as well as The New York Times (1851-Present) and other
useful research tools.

Our
staff is always available to help you with your research needs, in person at
our Reference Deskor over the phone at (908)354-6060, ext. 7203. You can
